Prosperity Tapestry 3-Piece

Prosperity Tapestry 3-Piece

SKU: TVNNAPTR002

Transform blank walls into conversation pieces with our Prosperity Tapestry. Each one is hand‑stitched by indigenous Hmong women in Vietnam’s Lao Cai Province using techniques passed down through generations. Intricate embroidery and vibrant hues reflect their cultural stories, while the soft, durable fabric holds up to everyday use. Each is accented with Hmong medallions; these square‑holed coins are traditionally tied together as protective charms believed to ward off negativity and attract good fortune.

Perfect for hallways or narrow spaces, the rectangular tapestry features the same handcrafted embroidery and medallion charms as its square counterpart in an elongated format. The slim profile makes it ideal between windows or along staircases, while the dangling coins gently sway to symbolize luck and welcome. Pair it with the square version for a cohesive look or let it stand alone as a statement of culture and craft. Every tapestry is unique and directly benefits the women who craft them.

  • About the Artisans

The Hmong people are an indigenous community in the mountainous regions of Vietnam, Laos, China, and Thailand. Our Hmong artisans in Lao Cai Province practice an ancient embroidery tradition called paj ntaub, or “flower cloth.” These textiles are much more than decoration – each stitch is a symbol. Motifs like the elephant’s foot, snail, and mountain represent family, growth and stability, while the trident offers spiritual protection. Historically, when the Hmong’s written language was suppressed, women encoded their stories and ancestry into this embroidery, turning garments into “coded clothing”. Today they still hand‑embroider, tie‑dye and batik every piece, a process that can take days.

Your purchase helps preserve this cultural heritage and provides fair wages for the women who create our pillow covers, bed runners, tapestries and apparel. By choosing Hmong handmade goods, you’re bringing a piece of Vietnam’s living history into your home and supporting sustainable livelihoods.
